Sophie was first created in France in 1961, and wasn’t sold in America until 40 years later when French expatriate Hélène Dumoulin-Montgomery asked Vulli (Sophie’s manufacturer) if she could import the Giraffe teether to the states.  And so began Calisson Toys, who have been the original and sole US distributor for Sophie la Giraffe products since 2001.  Hélène started with just 100 Sophies.  After years of dedication and working with mom and pop baby boutiques, Hélène and her husband Steve moved the business to a warehouse in Southern California where Calisson Toys now distributes French baby brands like Little Royals, Pamplemousse, and of course Sophie la Girafe!  Calisson now carries over 100 different products under the Sophie brand alone.

From our all-natural rubber material, design, user experience, and even introducing more eco-friendly packaging, we strive to make Sophie the obvious choice for your baby.  Even the paint used on our rubber toys is vegan.  We want to provide a product you can trust.  We believe in providing only the best for our little ones!

Sophie la Girafe just launched the Natur’all collection this year.  These eco-friendly toys are made from plant-based and renewable raw materials, such as corn or cassava. This approach is an environmental alternative as the products are made from plants that replace the use of plastics produced from petroleum resources.  These products have obtained 4 stars which certifies that they have a 100% biobased composition and 100% plant origin.

Caisson Toys also just launched the Sweetie Collection, Sophie’s first full line of plush toys.  Each plush has Sophie’s familiar face, ultra soft micro-velvet, and eco-conscious minimal packaging.
